"You have planted much, but have harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it."--Haggai 1:6 (NIV):
This Scripture is found in the Old Testament. Sometimes today it seems that we all have "holes" in our purses. We work, draw our pay, go to the store and buy those things we need and there is not enough money to go around. The economic system seems to be very slow in its recovery. What are we to do?
In the above scripture the answer was to finish doing God's work. This work for Haggai's neighbors was to rebuild the House of God. My understanding would for each of us to find what God's will for each is, and then to get at those tasks. God never asks of us more than we can do.
"Beloved, concerning all things I desire thee to prosper, and to be in health, even as thy soul doth prosper,"--3 John 1:2 (YLT)
This quote comes from the pen of the Apostle John, the author of the Gospel of John and the three letters of John written in the First Century AD. This is the New Testament and is for us today. For our soul to prosper we must put Jesus first in our lives. Then God can prosper us in all ways: health, income, relationships, and in other ways.
