In English we use the word "love" with very poor understanding. Just what is LOVE? In the New Testament Peter is asked by Jesus if he loved him. We find this experience recorded in the Gospel of John; 21:15-23. Jesus asked Peter if he loved him more the other disciples. Peter said Jesus knew he did. Just what was said?
Jesus used the Greek word "agapao" which means an unselfish love. Peter on the other hand used the Greek word "phileo" which means brotherly love. Jesus repeated the question using "agapao" and Peter responded using "phileo." Then Jesus repeated the question the third time using Peters word, "phileo" meaning "Are you my friend?" Peter did not want to say that he "loved" the god-kind of love. Rather he as saying that he was Jesus' friend.
Are you Jesus' friend? Are you more than a friend, do you truly LOVE Him. Have you made Him your Lord and Savior? Do that today, repent and then ask Him to all sin and become your Lord and a child of God.
