When we die we say we go to the afterlife -- where? Most people just think they go to heaven. Jesus told Nicodemus "You must be born again."
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." - (John 3:16-- NIV)
In the Gospel of John, chapter 3 the first 20 verses we can read the record of a very religious Jew named Nicodemus visiting Jesus asking a very significant question. He asked: "How can a man be born when he is old. Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!" Jesus had told him that if a person is to see the things of heaven that person must be born anew, a new Spirit life.
The process is simple, but perplexing to the mind. One must repent of a sinful life and the human nature of self-centeredness. Then accept Jesus' death and resurrection as payment for that sin nature and make Jesus Christ his or her Lord.
Jesus who is the Son of God and thus also is the second person of the God-head becomes our Lord. He becomes the one from whom one seek direction for all decisions in life here on earth. Then by doing His will, provision will be made for all of one's needs by Him. Then happiness (or blessings) will be yours all the rest of your life. Oh yes, there will be problems, yet answers are provided by God to those problems.
Ask Jesus into your life, repenting for the past miss-steps. If you do that, the Holy Spirit (the third person of the God-head) moves into your heart to guide and provided for your walk through this life and will take you with Him into Heaven to live forever.
