This may be the end of time as we know it. We may have many days, and then we may only have a short time. In either case, I would like for you to consider these two Scripture selections and the following comments.
" 'To the angel of the church in Laodicea write: These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation. I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm--neither hot nor cold--I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, 'I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.' But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see." -- Revelation 3:14-18 (NIV)
"For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." -- 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 (NIV)
These two Scriptures speak to this question. The Revelation selection is about the self-sufficient church that I see today in America. It has money, is large and is distant from Him who wants to be their Lord. People go forward at a church service, pray the sinner's prayer and then think "Now I am a Christian and now I can relax and do as I please." Not so! We need to be attentive to the Holy Spirit and not like the church at Laodicea which went about doing its own thing.
The second Scripture found in Paul's letter to the Corinthians. Here we are reminded that we must fight the battle that is spiritual, with spiritual weapons. The war is God's, but we must do are part which is Pray, Worship the Lord and speak the words that the Holy Spirit leads to say. Then we should be walking the part of Christians.
